KOS MARAS’s orderly life is in shambles—he must distribute Blood Vine to a population of ailing vampires, but Hunters block him at every turn. To make matters worse, each night he watches over a temptingly beautiful woman sleeping in his bed. He is convinced love cannot last a vampire-long lifetime and an entanglement will only cause them grief, but he doesn’t have the heart to send her away.
From a long line of blood servants, LENA ISAAKSON is destined to serve a vampire, but a string of humiliating rejections thwarts her pleasure. When Kos shows her kindness, she hopes he will claim her. Instead he proves himself a coward in the face of love and sends her to serve another.
Will the dark seduction of a rakish new vampire finally bring Lena the pleasure she desires or deliver her into the hands of Hunters who want to destroy everything the Maras family has worked for?
Blood Entangled follows Blood Vine, the first of the Blood Vine Series. This novel follows Kos Maras and Lena Isaakson.
Lena is a human who grew up knowing that one day she'd work in a vampire's home and offer herself as their blood supply in exchange for mind numbing, pleasurable sex. Blood and sex go hand and hand, because when a vampire feeds it evokes sensations of lust and excruciating zings of pleasure to ricochet throughout the giver's body. However, poor Lena has never once felt this pleasure, because the vampire she found to work for, wanted her only for her blood and never brought her to his bed.
Being denied this pleasure for years has left Lena heart broken and depressed. It's all she's ever wanted after hearing stories from her grandmother on just how amazing that kind of coupling can be. She grows angry and spiteful when her employer ends up falling in love with another woman, completely banning her from her duties all together.
Kos Maras believes his father to be a fool for denying Lena what she wants. She's a beautiful woman who makes his body thrum with energy. He wants her so badly, but he keeps his distance because he knows that all Lena wants his is father. Kos also battles with his desires, because he doesn't ever want a mate. After witnessing what being mated and losing that person can do to a vampire, Kos is put off by the whole notion. But when danger comes knocking at her door, he does everything in his power to protect Lena from the vampire hunters who are hell bent on destroying all vampires.
I really loved Kos and Lena's dynamic. They both feel a pull, and Lena finds love and acceptance in Kos. She finally begins to let go over the anger and hurt. They fall in love and find peace and happiness during the steamy love scenes, but not everything is kosher. Remember- Kos does not ever want to claim a mate, but Lena is falling in love with him and this causes conflict.
Not being able to go through any more torment of being wanted, but not fully, she decides to leave it all behind and ends up in more danger than she's ever faced. Kos must rescue her if he ever wants the chance to be fully happy again.
This book does have M/F and M/M sex scenes, so keep that in mind. There's also a F/M/F scene that I wasn't fully expecting. It made me a little squirmish, because I don't believe in sharing *wink wink*. BUT if that doesn't bother you, I think you'll enjoy this sensuous paranormal series with a twist on the vampire myth. Amber Belldene did a great job on this sequel, and I look forward to her future works.
