Josh King is an expert at running his family’s multi-million dollar ranch in Montana. (And all that outside manual labor has done wonders for sculpting his six-foot-three body, too.) But as sure footed as he is when it comes to the ranch, Josh doesn’t know anything about how to deal with an adolescent boy—so when his twelve-year-old nephew, Seth, is dropped off on his doorstep, looking scared and acting surly as hell, Josh knows he needs help in straightening him out.
Cara Donovan loves her quiet life as a teacher in her sleepy hometown, so she jumps at the chance to make a little money over the summer as a tutor. But when she learns she’ll be teaching Josh King’s nephew, Cara’s sweet summer job gets a little bit hotter. Cara tries to focus all her attention on tutoring Seth, but Josh proves to be a delicious distraction, while Josh’s memories of the shy girl he once teased in high school are nothing like the beautiful woman he’s facing now. Can he persuade her that there’s more between them than a summer fling?
Now I will say however that the book began a little too fast for my tastes, and I struggled with how fast the relationship between the hero and heroine developed. It kind of went from 0 to 60 in 3 seconds, and I couldn't help but balk at some of the hero's actions, finding myself rolling my eyes quite a few times. BUT by 30% in the story, it really hit its stride and leveled out with the perfect mixture of sexy times, sweet moments, and dramatic undertones.
Josh King sets his sight on the tempting tutor who comes over daily to his ranch to school his wayward nephew. He and Cara grew up together, living in the same town since diapers, but now that she's all grown up and grown out of her awkward stage, she's turned into quite the vixen. Josh can't help but salivate over her while she's teaching his nephew Seth fractions, and when they begin to get close, things heat up!
This story had it all. It touches on family issues that a lot of you can probably relate to, it has smoldering sex scenes, oh-so-tender moments that make you weak in the knees, and dramatic elements that will make your heart pound...gah! And let me tell you, ladies, Joshua King is one fine, smooth, SWEET and SEXY cowboy. Unghf. He melted my heart with his southern drawl and made me quiver with his caveman tendencies. *Wink Wink*
Who wouldn't want a man taking over and dominating some situations????! And I can't forget Cara. She is strong, and while she lets Josh be the man he needs to be, she gives as good as she gets.
This was my first book to read by Kristen Proby, and I have to say... I'm SOOOOO interested in her next book of this series, Seducing Lauren. The characters for that one were introduced in Loving Cara, and I'm hooked and need more ASAP! Seducing Lauren is set to release August 19th, 2014. You can check out the details on that here.
