Ten years ago Evie Evans left behind a dangerous job to be a mother and a wife.
Now widowed and left to raise her children alone, Evie is prepared for anything.
Well, almost anything.
There are actually two things she isn't prepared for.
The first being a sexy young man named Coop, a CI operative who is thrust into her world as her protector and handler. The other is an arms dealer named Servario, who the military has decided she must gain the trust of.
But the world she left behind has changed and unfortunately, so has Evie. The minivan-driving mother of two couldn't be further from the woman she once was and she doesn't have time to catch up.
At every turn there seems to be a secret or betrayal awaiting the inexperienced spy.
But Evie has a secret too, she just doesn't know it yet.
This hot, sexy ride is filled with espionage, secrets, and twists you will not see coming.
I really don’t want to tell too much about the story line because I feel like I might possibly give something away, even if by accident. What I can tell you is that the heroine, Evie Evans, is an ex-CI operative who is forced out of retirement with the death of her scum-bag of a husband. At first, I thought she might break easily due to all her crying spells, but she turned out to be one tough cookie. I loved her character. She was funny, sassy, smart and just over-all bad ass.
“Well head-gaming teenager, I don’t get feisty with the old hot and cold, for one. I get shut down and less confident. Not to mention, I am a pretend widow, this is new to me. I’ve been with the same person for a long time. I’m not playing this game with you. I’m here to save my kids and the last time I checked, you need me. I am fine running with my kids.”
There are two, yes you read that correctly, TWO love interests in this book. I guess it is a love triangle of sorts, but definitely not a typical one… which I LOVED!! Two hot guys? Sign me up!
“James was a bad man. He doesn’t deserve a single tear from your beautiful eyes. You deserve someone who would cherish you and respect you, and make you more important than everything in the world…you deserve a love like no other person has ever had.” ~Servario
Let’s just say this guy is smooth with a scary streak to him. Even though he is a bad man, Evie finds herself understanding him, wanting him, and eventually loving him. None of which were in her game plan.
Then we have sexy Coop, another CI agent, who has been brought in to assist Evie. He had been watching her husband before he supposedly died because the CI had intel that he might be working with the arms dealer, Servario. At first, I couldn’t tell if he had a thing for Evie, or if it was just an act as part of the job. One of my favorite parts in the book is when Evie and Coop are having some playful banter and he calls her a “cougar.” One minute he was insulting her, and then the next he was being sweet.
“I HAD TO WATCH! IT WAS MY JOB! IT BECAME MY WHOLE LIFE TO WATH YOURS SUCK! TO WATCH YOU BE SO PERFECT AND SO AMAZING AND GET NOTHING BUT THOSE LITTLE MOMENTS ALONE OR ONE FUCKING NICE WORD FROM YOUR KIDS!” ~Coop
Like I said before, Evie falls in love with Servario and I would consider him more of the main love interest in this book. It is hinted that Evie and Coop might have a slight “thing” for each other, but their relationship stays mainly professional with only kissing between them at one point.
I can’t say enough good things about this book. It was entertaining, suspenseful, sexy, action packed and had so many twists and turns that had my head spinning. The only negative I could say is that it was kind of hard to keep up with who was who. Other than that, The End of Me was spectacularly written and just one heck of a story. If you are ready for a change of pace from your typical romance novel…GET THIS BOOK!
